Hello and welcome to North Carolina’s Outer Banks. OBX as the locals call it is a string of barrier islands that cover more than half of the northern North Carolina coastline. With year round temperature averages of 70 degrees and endless beaches the Outer Banks is a popular tourist destination.

Sharky’s Bait and Tackle is located in Duck, North Carolina. Aptly named for the many ducks and waterfowls, Duck is located along the northern Outer Banks.

The Outer Banks has seemingly endless beachfront with 900 square miles of water surrounding us. We have the third largest estuary system in the world, wildlife refuges, and maritime forests. We are a fishing mecca whether it's shallow water, surf, inshore, offshore, from fly fishing to deep sea fishing. Yellowfin Tuna and king mackerel can be caught year round. Other fish that can be caught by season include but are not limited to White Marlin, Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Big Bluefish, Taylor Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Spots, Sea Mullet, Croaker, Flounder, Gray Trout, Speckled Trout, Pompano, Striped Bass, Red Drum, and Cobia.

The Outer Banks consists of 5 inlets; the closest inlet we access is the Oregon Inlet. Separating Bodie Island from Pea Island, the Oregon Inlet is home to one of the largest fishing fleets on the east coast. The Outer Banks features year round fishing, including surf and pier fishing, freshwater, fly and sound fishing, inshore and offshore charter fishing.
